Krista Dawn Blackledge Scholarship

Krista Dawn Blackledge Scholarship

Krista Dawn Blackledge, an alumnus of the Department, began this endowed scholarship in 2014, with the desire to provide scholarships for students (1) with financial need, (2) who are members of the Society of Women Engineers, and (3) who demonstrate the potential to be successful professional engineers.

Eligibility

  • Being a member of the Society for Women Engineers
  • Full time student of junior, senior, or graduate standing
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Pursuing a degree within the Geology & Geological Engineering department
  • Record of financial need in the Office of Financial Aid (note this requires either a FAFSA on file or a meeting with Financial Aid to document need)

Evaluation Criteria

  • Academic success
  • Potential for successful professional practice
  • Financial need

Previous recipients are eligible to apply for one additional year.

Scholarship applications are typically accepted during January and February of each year.

Applicants have to submit two nomination letters. One of the letters should come from your faculty advisor or a professional member of a chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.

The letters can be sent via email to: toommen@olemiss.edu or delivered directly to the GGE office.
