Dr. Andrew M. O'Reilly joined the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at the University of Mississippi in August 2014. He earned Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering degrees from Auburn University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from the University of Central Florida. Dr. O'Reilly has a wide range of experience in the geosciences, including the academic, public, and private sectors, most recently as a Hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Orlando, Florida. With over 25 years of professional experience, he has authored publications on a wide variety of topics, including hydrogeologic effects of land-based application of reclaimed water, characterization and simulation of regional aquifer systems, groundwater recharge and evapotranspiration processes, groundwater quality impacts of stormwater management practices, and data mining for understanding aquifer forcing-response dynamics. As a child, he had a fascination with flowing water, which continues to this day, rarely forgoing an opportunity to observe the occurrence, movement, and fate of water above or below ground.

On an ongoing basis, I consider accepting motivated graduate students interested in hydrogeological research ranging from computer-based simulation to field-based investigation.
